Instagram Sunday (3) + Blog Makeover!

Welcome to a very special “Instagram Sunday,” here at Findingravity.

Before we get started, I’d like to take a moment to introduce and break down my new blog design for everybody. Over the last two weeks I have been developing this blog design idea with Melissa from Cherry On Top Design. The design went live last night and I couldn’t be happier. She managed to incorporate so many parts of my personality and I am truly impressed. She tied in my love of travel with the globe logo, and my love of writing with the calligraphy, and feather quill pens on my side bar.

Two things:
-The first feather quill pen is my follow button. I suggest you click it. You know, because we’re buds. (This is currently being fixed, don’t fret. I have added a temporary follow button at the top of my side bar).
-The second feather quill pen is above my new button. Feel free to grab my button for your blogroll if you enjoy reading my nonsense. You know, because we’re buds.

Melissa also designed five social media buttons of my choice for my website

-The first is twitter, feel free to follow me and give me a shout! I’m one of those people who swore they would never use twitter. Guilty.
-The second is an Email short cut. My email can also be found with my twitter handle in the menu above, underneath contacts.
-The third is my pinterest shortcut. My pinterest user name is Findingravity. Weird, right? Feel free to pin anything you see on my site, just be polite and credit Findingravity. Thanks, fistbump.
-The fourth shortcut is to my webstagram account, where you can stalk find all of my instagram photos. I don’t actually post all of them on Instagram Sunday, so if you want more, that’s where you’ll find them.
-The last social media button is my personal favorite, 8tracks. I’ve discussed 8tracks before on my blog, but for anyone who needs a refresher, it’s the bomb diggity. I’m a music fanatic. I suppose it was love at first chord when I received my guitar for my 10th birthday. 8tracks was a key ingredient to Blake and I surviving long distance. One of the first conversations Blake and I had was about music. This was after I attempted talking to him at a rugby game, during which he rudely blew me off, but that’s a story for another day. Once we started dating across oceans, we made 8tracks mixes every week, and sent them to each other. You can check out the mixes I created by clicking the 8tracks!

So that’s that! Thank you Melissa, you are so talented.

After work on Monday, I took a trip to a vintage music store in Maine. As I said above, music is a staple in my life. I love looking through old records, and something I’d like to someday invest in is a vinyl record player.

New England coffee? Enough said.

After three or four days of furniture musical chairs, my new work space is complete! In order to make this happen, I had to move a DVD stand, a book case (twice), and a marble top side table. Our apartment looked like a scene from Twister. I also realize that the chair doesn’t match the desk, but I haven’t bought a chair yet, so that’s a chair from our kitchen table.

Spring is 9 days away, and this week it was 55 degrees. That might not seem like a huge deal, but here in New England where we endure sub zero temperatures, it’s safe to say everyone was pretty stoked. Blake actually wore shorts today.

The week ended with a get together at a local organic pizza restaurant with some friends. This get together has become tradition whenever we all happen to be in the same place at the same time. At this restaurant, they leave paper and crayons on the tables (like every other restaurant) except they actually slip what you draw into the covers of the menus! We have turned this into game, where we pass the piece of paper around the table and every person adds something wild to the picture, until the meal comes. Here is a picture of our top hat wearing, red haired, yellow toothed, fire breathing man.

Creativity at its finest.

I hope you all had a wonderful week. I have a few more projects on the conveyor belt for this week. Stay tuned!

  1. Love the Design!
It’s so clean, but so gorgeous at the same time. Stumbled upon you through 20sb, so glad I did!

  2. Oooh, you were at Flatbread Co., weren’t you? Love it there. I haven’t had it for ages!

I LOVE the new design & have snagged your button already.

  3. Love the new design!

Our whole apartment is in a state of disarray as I try to make things cleaner and more organized. I keep seeing bloggers posting beautiful work spaces and wonder how my desk came to be so cluttered! Anyway, looks lovely.

Glad you are enjoying this gorgeous weather. 68 today!!

    • Thank you!
I wish I had taken a picture of my apartment while I was in the middle of rearranging it. Everything is organized, for now! I wonder how long it stays like this though! Enjoy the sunshine.

  4. The blog looks great! Love the color scheme!

Also, we have been enjoying the “warm” weather here in Boston, as well. I said to a co-worker on Friday: You know you’re from New England when you get excited and think the 50s is warm!
(But of course, it won’t be too long before we start complaining about the heat, because let’s face it, part of being a New Englander is complaining about the weather all year ’round…)

    • Thanks, Danielle! The color scheme is one of my favorite parts! I’m only 40 minutes from Boston, so the weather is pretty similar! I’m actually one of those people who LOVES the heat, so I’m not a complainer when it’s 90 and humid. Although, I live right near the beach, and I don’t know if I’d feel the same about heat if I couldn’t jump in the ocean whenever I wanted!

  5. Great new design! Fancy, fancy. 🙂 This weather is truly amazing… we have highs of upper 60s and low 70s all week!! It makes me so happy it’s ridiculous.

    • I know I can’t believe it. Blake and I were outside yesterday playing basketball in T-shirts. It’ CRAZY! Enjoy the sun!

  6. McKenna says

I stumbled upon your blog today and have since read at least four or five of your posts! I find them so relatable which isn’t always easy when I’m looking through twenty-something-year-old blogs. I look forward to reading more in the future.

    • I’m SO happy you found me! That’s actually why I decided to keep a blog. I was looking one day, and all I could find were mommy blogs (which are awesome, totally noble, I’m just not at that point yet) and blogs on make up and fashion (I actually have an entire post dedicated to how bad I am at make up). I wanted to write a blog that 20 somethings, and apparently people from all walks of life, could stumble upon and nod along with! Thank you for reading 🙂
